Which of these QBs was deemed the best in the NFL by the Sports Unbiased writers?

Welcome to another edition of Writers’ Block.  For those who don’t know, Writers’ Block is where all the Sports Unbiased Writers are asked to provide their thoughts on a topic every week.

Joining the Writers’ Block this week are JR Williams, Sammie Wright, Adam Solowiei, Rich Stowe, Kureen Paige, Fred Phillips and Kimani Gregoire.

This week’s topic is about the NFL’s “elite” QBs.  The writers were asked to rank who they believe are the top-3 “elite” QBs in the league and explain why they picked the players they did.

The term “elite” has been thrown around a lot over the last couple of years, mainly from reporters directly asking quarterbacks like Eli Manning or Joe Flacco if they are “elite.”  Of course, this leads the player to answer, usually in the affirmative (which is good – you want a player to be confident they are among the best in the game) which leads to an uproar from fans and the media who either agree or don’t agree.

Everyone has their own definition of what “elite” means and which quarterbacks are considered “elite.”  Are QBs in the top-10 of all QBs in the league elite?  Maybe just the top-5?  Can a rookie or second-year QB be consdiered elite or does the player need to prove their “elite” status over many consecutive years?

Here at Sports Unbiased, we decided to cut the list of “elite” QBs to only the top-3 currently playing in the league.  The writers were able to determine their own criteria for selection.

How many different quarterbacks were named?  What were the reasons given for why the writer considered a QB elite?  Read the following pages to see for yourself and feel free to vote for your top-3 QBs.
